Vanessa by me
For my street style photograph I wanted to take a snapshot photo with a compact fim camera Olympus AF-10 Super of my friend Vanessa, not only because I enjoy the way she dresses but also cause I am fascinated by outerwear in wintertime, specifically my interest lies on coats, and her black winter coat was something I really wanted to photograph. The coat's a dreamy cut that conflicks the way that a body is usually perceived with a long skirt, not to forget Vanessa's long blonde hair and red lips is a combination of fairy tale and everyday.

Sofia Coppola for Marc Jacobs by Juergen Teller

For the iconic fashion photograph I ended up choosing Juergen Teller's photograph of Sofia Coppola for the Marc Jacobs fragrance ad campaign 2001. In the photograph Sofia Coppola is relaxing in a swimming pool naked cropped by the water from her neck and showing the photographer Teller's feet in the front of the photograph. The horizon is set by the line of the blue water and the bright blue sky. Coppola is smiling.

What I find interesting in this photograph is while it is set to advertise Marc Jacobs 2001 fragrance the photograph in itself does say to the viewer anything about the fragrance--the photograph only sets a mood to the viewer, and that mood is all about serenity and relaxation. The photograph has also another side on it that comes through the photographer's feet: humour and something that most people can relate to--that's how we all are while we're enjoying a swim with friends. The photograph is not stiff, but dreamy and funny, something very light. It is also not glossy and overdone, which is Teller's iconic trademark as a fashion photographer.
